Lakewood Community Grant Program


Welcome to the City of Lakewood's charitable giving program, the Lakewood Community Grant Program, administered in coordination with the Lakewood Legacy Foundation. The Lakewood Community Grant Program establishes a process for review and evaluation of requests received by the City from nonprofit organizations.


Eligibility Criteria

Nonprofit organizations seeking funding must:

  • Have a principal place of business in Jefferson County, Colorado.
  • Allocate grant funds for services that support Lakewood residents.
  • Be registered as a Colorado nonprofit organization with the Colorado Secretary of State and be organized in the State of Colorado.
  • Have 501(c) (3) status.
  • Have a current certificate of good standing from the Colorado Secretary of State.
  • Have been in operation for three-plus years.

Please Note: Funding or sponsorship for events or conferences is not available through this grant program.

2019 Lakewood Community Grant Program Application Form


Proposals will be evaluated based on the following criteria:

  • Organization background/experience
  • Program or project information
  • Lakewood community benefit
  • Evaluation/impact
  • Financial information
  • Financial sustainability

2019 Timeline

  • Application deadline: March 29, 2019
  • Evaluation of applications: April 2019
  • Funding decisions: May 2019

In 2019, Lakewood nonprofit organizations, including applicants to the Community Grant Program, will be encouraged to seek additional funding through a fundraising challenge. The city will help promote the community fundraising effort through its media outlets.
