Help make important decisions

Play an important role in your community by volunteering to serve on one of Lakewood’s boards or commissions. Current openings are listed below, and full descriptions for each position and applications are available online at

Budget and Audit Board
The board has one opening for a three-year term that expires on Dec. 31, 2020. The board serves as a financial oversight committee, reviewing financial statements and budget forecasts and providing feedback on budgetary compliance with city policies. Meetings are once a quarter, typically at 5:30 p.m. on Monday nights. It is preferred that members possess a background in capital budgeting and strategic financial planning and have familiarity with financial statement audits.

Advisory Commission for an Inclusive Community (ACIC)
The ACIC currently has several openings, and members serve as advisers to the Lakewood City Council. Members research specific issues or topics of interest to the residents and make recommendations to City Council on those topics. Members should plan to attend a minimum of two meetings a month. Applicants must attend both an ACIC full commission meeting and an individual committee meeting before submitting an application. For more information, visit
