Come tell us if we’re pedaling in the right direction

Lakewood has spent the last year listening to residents’ ideas for updating and improving the city’s 10-year-old Bicycle System Master Plan, and now it’s time for residents and community members to tell us how we’ve done in outlining conceptual ideas, goals and objectives for guiding the new plan.

WHAT: Bicycle System Master Plan open house

WHEN: 5-7 p.m., Nov. 15

WHERE: Community Room at the Lakewood Cultural Center, 470 S. Allison Parkway

WHY: Review outline of ideas for new plan

The Bicycle Master Plan plays an important role in charting ways to meet the needs of all types of bicyclists in Lakewood ranging from dedicated bicycle commuters to recreational riders. It also evaluates each quadrant of the city to consider what connections would work best in the future and what facilities are needed to serve the bicycling community.

The next step following this open house will be to present these conceptual ideas to City Council during a study session in the coming months and then drafting a new plan, which will be open for review and comments from the public.

If you are unable to attend the Nov. 15 open house and have comments, please send them to John Padon, traffic engineering manager, at johpad@lakewood.org.
